Scholastic New Zealand
As part of Scholastic International, the largest publisher globally of children’s books and educational materials, Scholastic New Zealand has brought the unrivalled enjoyment of reading to multiple generations of families and schools throughout New Zealand for over 50 years.
As specialists in the children’s space, we strive not only to inspire the passion and curiosity of every child, but to awaken their empathy and understanding to equip them for the complex world they live in. We believe that all children, families and educators deserve access to quality, affordable books. And as a trusted publisher of books for Kiwi kids, we have the privilege of telling truly Kiwi stories, written by New Zealand authors and brought to life by New Zealand illustrators to keep local content and characters on our children’s bookshelves.
Scholastic New Zealand publishes on average about 40 new titles each year. Approximately 65% of our local publishing list is made up of picture books, including bilingual sing-alongs in both English and Māori, and 4–5 new editions exclusively in te reo Māori each year. We also publish a range of compelling middle-grade and YA fiction, historical fiction, nonfiction and activity books. All our books are housed and distributed from our own warehouse in Auckland.
