Koa Press
Koa Press is a new independent publisher proudly based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The creation of Tonia Shuttleworth, who draws on her 18 years of experience in the UK publishing industry, working with globally recognised food and lifestyle brands and icons including Jamie Oliver, Davina McCall, Gino D’Acampo, BBC and The Great British Bake Off.
Our books are largely illustrated, ranging from floral and gardening titles through to cook books.
Tonia’s experience ranges from styling and art directing projects. She also draws on her graphic design and at times photography experience in order to retain creative control of the titles she publishes, collaborating and working closely with the author, ensuring their ultimate vision is achieved.
Publishing books has always been a dream of Tonia’s, and since starting Koa Press early in 2021, and launching her hugely successful debut title, Petal Power by Julia Atkinson-Dunn, followed closely by another beautiful floral title, Flowers for Friends, has since published a beautiful floral ‘hide-and’seek’ title called Lost & Found by Zoe Field, and two cookbooks; The Grater Good, an inspiring plant-based cookbook by Flip Grater, and Cook Me, a modern, flavour-packed cook book by talented Australian chef, Sam Parish.
With a busy year well underway, 2023 sees distribution into the States, and the launch of an exciting new gardening title by Julia Atkinson-Dunn, and beautiful contemporary stitch title by renowned fibre artist Fleur Woods.
