Koa Press
Koa Press is a new independent publisher proudly based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The creation of Tonia Shuttleworth, who draws on her 18 years of experience in the UK publishing industry, working with globally recognised food and lifestyle brands and icons including Jamie Oliver, Davina McCall, Gino D’Acampo, BBC and The Great British Bake Off.
Our books are largely illustrated, with themes ranging from floral and gardening titles, cook books, interiors, to art, craft and mindfulness.
Tonia’s experience ranges from styling and art directing projects. She also draws on her graphic design and at times photography experience in order to retain creative control of the titles she publishes, collaborating and working closely with the author, ensuring their ultimate vision is achieved.
Publishing books has always been a dream of Tonia’s. In 2021 the successful debut title was launched – Petal Power by Julia Atkinson-Dunn, followed closely by another beautiful floral title, Flowers for Friends, and has since published a beautiful floral ‘hide-and-seek’ title called Lost & Found by Zoe Field, and cookbooks; Cook Me, a modern, flavour-packed cook book by talented Australian chef, Sam Parish. More recent titles showcase an array of talented New Zealand artists –The Untamed Thread is a hugely successful modern stitch title by renowned fibre artist Fleur Woods; Maximalist Evie Kemp’s title, Much, is abundant with bold and beautiful interiors; The latest title, The Art of Joy by Jen Sievers, is a calming, beautiful title filled with mindfulness techniques using art, breathwork and much more.
