Fetū, the youngest sister of a unique family of matai, and her connection to her siblings becomes a guiding light for her village and a reminder of the enduring power of ‘āiga, duty and hope for the future. Mataali‘i weaves a story rich in Samoan cultural values, blending earthly duties with ancestral bonds.

This book, aimed at readers aged 6 and up, explores the significance of Matariki through Samoan values, emphasising themes of alofa (love), renewal, reflection, connection, and celebration. The story highlights the importance of duties, responsibilities, and legacies within a Pasifika family, with a strong focus on the concept of ʻāiga (family) as the foundation of Sāmoan society. The book emphasises values such as unity, respect, resilience, and hope for the future. With vibrant, culturally rich illustrations and authentic Pasifika representation, the book is ideal for schools, organisations, and homes, providing a meaningful exploration of Samoan culture.
