Let’s Go Flo

Book Author Rebekah Ballagh
Rights Available World ex Australia and NZ

On one level, this is a cute story about the day in the life of a girl: getting ready for school, going to school, missing her friends, going through the school day, getting home, helping to cook dinner, going to bed, and all the normal day-to-day challenges she faces and deals with in one busy day.

On another level, all the things Flo encounters require ‘executive functioning’ skills: the ability to focus, pay attention, remember instructions and regulate emotions.

It’s an interactive book; for instance the reader is invited to inhale as they trace up an image and exhale as they trace down.

There are also excellent resources in the back for parents, caregivers and teachers about executive functions and how to help your child with focus and memory and other key skills.

One of the best books I've seen about emotions. Rebekah goes beyond linking emotions to colours or naming them but also describes how they make your body feel and how to manage them. I highly recommend this book for all parents and educators.

SCHOOL LIBRARY NEWS Praise for Big Feelings

Big Feelings is designed to help little children but, full disclosure, I've used a couple of the techniques in the back on myself. It's good stuff.

MATT HEATH, NZ HERALD

Ballagh dispenses wisdom and compassion in this wonderful resource that shows children they have the power to influence their emotions.
