Kat Quin is a celebrated illustrator and author known for her vibrant and imaginative children’s books.
Quin’s creative process combines both traditional and digital techniques.
Whether through her whimsical illustrations or her educational resources, she finds joy in sharing her vision and stories with children, helping them explore new worlds.
Kat is particularly proud of her work with “Kiwis for Kiwi,” where book sales have raised over $60,000 to support the conservation of New Zealand’s iconic native bird.
Kat first worked with Pānia Papa at the age of eighteen, when she was entrusted with the illustration of Māori language resources for Te Ara Reo Māori, developed by Pānia’s company. Almost twenty years later, they still work closely together on various educational projects. Pānia PAPA is an acclaimed Māori language consultant and advocate who has spent the past three decades devoted to the teaching and learning of te reo Māori. Māori TV viewers can watch Pānia, on AKO and Ōpaki. Recently, Pānia translated all of the te reo Māori in this pukapuka (book), as well as advising and editing.
