Breathe with Me, is a children’s picture book that provides a simple meditative breathing practice incorporating elements and pūrākau (legends) of Māori culture. The breathing exercises in this book are suitable for children but can be used by people of any age at home, school or anywhere.
The book is aligned with Te Ao Māori principles that encourage connection to the land and environment to help children calm their breath when experiencing difficult feelings and emotions throughout the day. This book emphasises that breath (hā) is a taonga (treasured gift) that you can use at any time to bring calm and peace. About the Authors
Abel Junior Tutagalevao is a Polynesian/Samoan author based in Auckland, New Zealand. Abel has a Postgraduate degree in Education and History, working with Early Childhood Educators and Primary/Elementary School Leaders for the last 15 years. He is passionate about creating concept picture books for children, to help them understand complex ideas while bringing joy to all readers.
Renee Mariner-Solomon is a Polynesian/Māori/NZ European author passionate about writing titles that inspire and empower Indigenous children worldwide to live their dreams and aspirations. She has an educational background in Health Science, Naturopathy, and Psychology.
