About the Author
Ashia Ismail-Singer’s grandparents moved from India to Malawi in the late 1940s, when the partition happened between India and Pakistan. She was taught to cook by her mum, recreating recipes passed down from generations. Later, when her family moved from Malawi to the UK, Ashia started experimenting with the new ingredients available there.

After moving to New Zealand in her twenties, Ashia missed her mum’s cooking, so she started creating her dishes and experimenting. She also started writing a food blog, because she wanted more people to see that cooking Indian food doesn’t have to be difficult. Ashia’s previous cookbook My Indian Kitchen was recently published worldwide by Interlink, under the title Ashia’s Table. When not cooking or writing about food, Ashia works as a real-estate agent.
